The Solid Wooden Name Peg Racks can be used throughout the house with these big, bright, multi-colored letters for a child's room, mud room, back landing, or even in a den to hold your favorite sports paraphernalia. The Names are cut from a solid piece of Western Ponderosa White Pine for the Custom Solid Colored Names. The Names are mounted to the base which has a number of pegs mounted at an angle to hang items on them. The width and number of pegs of the rack is determined by the number of letters ordered. They are to be mounted on a wall. We furnish the "T" slot brackets (and screws) for mounting to the wall. All are precut, safe, sturdy and water-resistant. The wooden rack base with pegs is finished with a Clear Hand Rubbed Natural Oil. The colors for the letters, etc., are shown below and are non-toxic and stain-like impregnated finishes.

The Individual Letters & Colors Used are as follows:

Consonants are a rotation of the following colors :
 RED   BLUE   ORANGE   BROWN   PURPLE   GREEN   BLACK  

The size of the letters are approximately 2-1/4" wide, 3-1/2" and 1-1/2" thick. The Indvidual Letters are phonetically colored so as to aid a young child in spelling words by way of breaking down the words into syllables. The one primary color, Yellow, is on all of the Vowels ( A E I O U ), and the balance of letters, made up of Consonants, are colored by the remaining (2) primary colors, the (3)secondary colors, plus (2) combination colors, Black and Brown.

Please note here that the Individual Letters are colored Phonetically, to assist the youngster to Enunciate Syllables and Pronounce Words. This Educational experience creates the use of reasoning skills and then spelling skills.

The simplest way to explain the way these work is this.

When viewing the entire set of Alphabet Letters as a group (Please view W-1702), I ask anyone what one color is the most noticable to them. They will answer correctly over 90% of the time. Do you know which color it is? It is the color that is most prevalent. I then ask them what do they think the color represents. Most adults don't get it right at all. Even teachers are only 20% correct. Now the kids below 3rd grade get it right over 68% of the time. Give up? Ok, it is the color Yellow. Why is the yellow color so important you ask? Look at the Yellow in the Alphabet Set. What do you see? Yes, that's right, they are the Vowels, A E I O U.

Now for the rest of the story. When dealing with the phonetics aspect of this teaching toy, we find that most syllables are a group of consonants surounding a vowel. Armed with that knowledge, think about this. In our set of Alphabet Letters, it becomes very easy to take a word and break it down by selecting the groups of letters surrounding the "YELLOW" Vowels.

Point in fact, kids can learn quicker and get on track of pronouncing words sooner than than those not having the esposure to our system. When children pick up fun habits to excel in educational learning, I can't find any fault with that, can you?

The Number Digits if used are colored as follows : 

  0 ,  1 ,  2 ,  3 ,  4 ,  5 ,  6 ,  7 ,  8 ,  9 .

The size of the numbers are approximately 2-1/4" wide, 3-1/2" tall and 1-1/2" thick. The numbers are colored by (3) primary & (2) secondary colors.

   YELLOW ,    ORANGE ,    RED ,    GREEN ,    BLUE .

The (5) colors are rotated through the set of numbers twice by going from light to dark colors, left to right. Just one more way of teaching sequencing.
Please note we are not using all of the (8) colors as used in the Alphabet Set simply because it is convenient to rotate just (5) colors twice. Also note here that the Alphabet Set is colored differently. It is colored Phonetically, to assist the youngster to enunciate syllables and pronounce words. Please visit W-1702

The wooden rack base is finished with a Clear Hand Rubbed Natural Oil. We also can use a Clear Natural Hand Rubber Oil in substitution of any of the colors above.
